    FAQ

    Common questions

How long should a title tag be?

Google cuts titles at about 580–600 pixels, which is roughly 50–60 characters. The tool measures real pixel width, because wide letters like W and M take more space than i or l.

How long should a meta description be?

About 120–155 characters on desktop. Google may show a shorter part on mobile, so put the most important words first.

Does Google always use my description?

No. Google sometimes rewrites it to match the search. A clear, honest description that fits the page is used most often.

    Do meta tags help rankings?

The title tag is an important ranking signal. The description does not change rankings directly, but a good one gets more clicks, which brings more visitors.
